Having defrauded a former client five years earlier, a shady and ambitious lawyer Obitu Obadiah suddenly faces payback time; and a controversial priest has come to collect. His usual bossy and condescending attitude is quickly replaced by fear when he learns that Father Bullet is no ordinary clergyman, and whose idea of a way out for him lies in a lethal game of Russian roulette with no guarantees of survival. As Father Bullet firmly controls the narrative all the way to the point of a gunshot, a terrified Obitu no longer knows if anything is real, or just a horrible dream he hopes to wake up from……

Bruno and Efe are frustrated with their marriage, and suspect each other of having extramarital affairs. Intense anger and jealousy drive them both to discreetly put out a contract on each other’s heads but unknowingly, they have both employed the services of the same hit man. Matters become more complicated when they both discover from a blind date that they had been anonymously flirting with each other online, believing they had each found the perfect partner.
While in captivity, the realization that they still have feelings for each other encourages them to try and salvage their relationship. However, there is just one small snag – Father Bullet adamantly believes that to maintain integrity in the cloak and dagger community, a hit once ordered, cannot be called off.
Meanwhile, he himself faces his own dilemma – after both hits, who pays his balance?

Minna has a deadline to vacate her apartment, and in desperation, pays for the first place she sees, only to discover she has been scammed, as the apartment has already been allocated to someone else. Bottom-line, Alhaji must find a solution to Minna’s problem as Bullet gives him three options:-

Kabiyesi Fabunmi Adegbenro, king of the Yoruba kingdom of Ile-Gbogbo returns from battle to find that his only child Omolade has been influenced by visiting Christian missionaries who he believes have plans to infiltrate and seize his kingdom. Meanwhile, a terminal battle injury makes him anxious to see his daughter married.
Shockingly, she declines his choice of Bandele, a dashing warrior, preferring instead, a staunch Christian who can help build her faith although she has no idea who such a person might be.
His fears of a takeover by the Christian leaders “Jahofa (Jehovah) and son, Jisos (Jesus)” strongly reinforced by his daughter's stance, Kabiyesi immediately instructs his military commander Ajirogun to apprehend the suspects.
However, fearing certain death in the king’s strategy, Ajirogun manages to convince Kabiyesi to capture God’s people instead since God’s address is unknown.
The king mandates him to bring just one devout follower to be used as a scapegoat to draw God out of hiding. Meanwhile, unknown to the king, there is a more immediate threat to his own already delicate life, but from where?
Could it be Iyalode, a member of Council with hopes of seeing her son Bandele as Kabiyesi’s successor?
Could it be Ajirogun, the military commander whom the king trusts with his life?
Could it be Ajakaiye, another Council member left in charge of the kingdom while Kabiyesi was at war?
Or even Israel, an apprehended leader of the Christian missionaries, accused of instigating an uprising?

Some experiences make you want to climb to the top of the highest mountain and sing “What a Wonderful World” while others make you feel like screaming wildly and throwing someone down from the top of the same mountain. Thankfully, there are less dangerous ways of expressing these extreme feelings, and safer alternatives are to be found in the writing of poetry although for many, it is an abstract art which defies understanding or appreciation, leaving such people at a loss for what exactly to do with it.As a creative artiste with a music background, I found it more logical to express my poetic thoughts in audio form with all the nuances and emotion which would be otherwise lost to my audience if the work existed solely in print. Therefore beyond the printed words, these poems have been designed to be heard against background music composed and performed by me.‘Love and Other Afflictions’ is sam-uQuah’s own podium. A runway from where he takes you on an intriguing journey of awakening.

As a constant victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband Abbey, Tokunboh’s life is hell on earth. Despite the efforts of her best friend Laide to convince her to move out from her matrimonial home before something tragic happens, Tokunboh chooses to remain, partly due to pressures from her mother and their pastor, and partly due to the fact that she is helplessly in love with Abbey even as she lives in constant fear of his terrible flaws.Upon her return from a trip abroad, Laide is shocked to arrive at Tokunboh’s house and find a condolence register signing session going on and loses control, attacking everyone present. However, with the departure of all guests, it turns out that all is not really what it seems, and Tokunboh may not have been who everyone thought she was. So, the big question…… Is Tokunboh dead – or not?

Testimonials

Nearly CAN Kill A Bird (Solo Musical Theatre)“I’ve seen lots of shows in this city but I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
– Tony Omokhodion
"This is wonderful. I think we're a privileged audience, this show deserves to go far beyond this venue and this audience."
– William Okai
"I was wondering – 'How would you alone do what I’ve seen so many other people do together?' …and I must confess that what he played out here… I didn’t miss any of the other characters because he captured everything that the story was about, so it was a good show."
– Christine Uquah
"Great storytelling. Quality music production. A one-man theatre is always really hard. What you kind of captured was putting everybody on stage. I saw every single person you talked about. You described them perfectly. You could feel their emotions and their pain and every trauma they went through. That was so magical and your songs are very powerfully original. Thank you for this beautiful experience.”
– Yaw Asiyama

Love And Other Afflictions (Spokenword Theatre)“It’s a great performance, I’ve had a wonderful time. When I first read the poetry, I didn’t know what to make of it until I realized it was meant to be heard and not read, then it made sense to me; but Sam, believe it or not, this show is your main product – the audio CD is just the souvenir!”
– Aduke Gomez
“Well, it was excellent. Let’s just put it that way. It was very enlightening, very educative, and I’ll spend some time just digesting the CD.”
– Dr. Femi Aribisala
“A refreshing departure from everyday conventional poetry reading. Well dramatized, well illustrated.
I say kudos to Sam.”
– Remi Okafor
“Absolutely wonderful. The whole concept – merging visuals, sound, acting… brilliantly done. Congratulations, Sam.”
– Prof. Karen King-Aribisala
